All set to go - steadily - please. St Georges Sports & Social Club is now ready to re-open - in a Covid 19 secure but limited and prescribed way - from Friday 17th July 2020. Our initial hours will be: Friday - 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm Saturday - 12.00 noon to 11.00 pm Sunday - 12.00 noon to 9.00 pm Monday to Thursday - Closed There are a few changes to how we operate you need to know about:- Only the Members Bar will re-open - the Meeting and Function rooms will remain closed. Additionally, we can only open for MEMBERS ONLY at the outset. If you are not a Member, please don't come in the early days as we will not be able to accommodate you which will slow us down and frustrate you. We will announce arrangements for new Members or Members who are only interested in renewing their Membership (and not using the Club on their first visit) at a later stage. Please bear with us but the reason for this is that, as well as ensuring the safety of Customers, Staff and Stewards, our new Tills and Membership Management system, initially set for installation in March, will slow us down until all of the existing Membership who are attending the Club for the first time since mid-March have to be provided with the new Membership cards that are both compatible with and work with our new tills. This will lead to some congestion at the start but, as we gain experience of the practical reality and the unknown level of initial demand, we hope to speed things up. Government and Local Authority Covid 19 secure measures are in place and we will be heavily Stewarding movement around the site to ensure the safety of all parties and, frankly, to protect the Club's licence to operate and you have an important part to play in that. On arrival, you will be queued at the main entrance and will need to be socially distanced. On admission, one at a time, you will be asked for limited contact information for each party, group, family etc (which will be destroyed after 21 days) and your temperature will be taken. Use of the provided hand sanitiser is mandatory after which you will be directed towards the Membership and Ordering point and, again, be required to queue for access to that in a socially distanced order overseen by Stewards. At the Membership and Ordering Point your new Membership card will be issued to you and your order taken and paid for (card payment preferred although not essential). You will then move to the end of the bar area and collect your order. Stewards will oversee every movement and, if you require assistance in the carrying of your order, the Stewards will provide it. The meet the safety requirements we have had to re-organise the Members' Bar and can only accommodate a maximum of 30 adults seated within the bar area. Because of the discipline of social distancing we cannot accommodate children within the Members' Bar. The maximum number of people to a table in the Members' Bar will be four and the table will be available (but not pre-booked - everything will be on a first come, first allocated basis) for up to three hours from your arrival depending on the demand for access to the Club. Outside, we have provided up to sixteen bench tables each of which can accommodate up to six Members, including children, and whose use may be weather dependent. You will still queue on arrival as already described and will have access to the outside benches if that is your preference or if the Members' Bar is already full. In both the Members' Bar and on the outside benches, you may be asked to share the available space with other Members if you are a small party and demand warrants such a request. The new toilet facilities are ready and Stewards will oversee your access to those facilities. Again, sanitiser will be available and you are advised to wash your hands thoroughly after use. Local experience is suggesting that people are (understandably) reticent in attending bars and we hope that we don't experience a surge in the initial days. Please come and enjoy the Club sensibly and patiently and we will all get used to being back together. Please remember that this is all new to us too but, more importantly, please work with us and help us all to stay alert to protect everyone and the Sports & Social Club. Helen, Garry, Staff and Committee Members Welcome back!
