Harlech to Harlech Point (map)

Access to the beach is at Harlech following the signs for the beach from the main A496 coast road.  You will be taken to the beaches pay and display car park and from there the sea is only a 5 minute walk away. The path takes you across the golf course and the through the dunes.

The beach itself is stretches northwards for about 2.5 miles and is quite featureless.  In the holiday season it becomes very crowded with families at it's southern end.

The quieter part is found moving north towards Harlech Point,  the walk to the point and back is a 6 mile round trip. If you decide to walk it be warned travel light. Avoid the walk at high water otherwise walking on the soft sand will make the 6 miles feel more like 60 miles.

Bass and flatfish are the the main species to target from this beach and it is best fished 2hrs either side of low water on a spring tide. Because of the distance a rucksack and light gear is recommended. A rod around 11ft capable of casting 2 - 3ozs is ideal for this type of on the move fishing. The northern end of the beach opposite the Powder House will offer the best chance of a large bass.

Baits:- lug worm, crab (peeler or soft back) and sand eel for the bass with lug and rag worm best for the flat fish. Occasional small turbot to sand eel.
