Summer
Flounder, silver eels, plaice and school bass

Comfortable fishing right from the car. Just be careful of the moored boats.
Winter
Flounder (in good numbers), whiting and occasional codling.
Guidance
Mainly a flounder mark with plaice in spring and summer. A recent trend has seen an increasing number of school bass being caught. Expect silver eels spring, summer and autumn!
Winter offers whiting with the odd codling. The fishing is virtually from your car with a small wall running the length of the mark which makes it ideal for youngsters.
Standard beach gear/rigs/baits will work, though you will have trouble holding bottom on the bigger tides,as the tide flows up/down a deep channel. This mark is around 22km from Talacre at the mouth of the estuary. It’s located at the start of the canalised section of the River Dee. Being so far inland it carries the same warnings about fishing poorly after after spells of rain/snow. At times and especially after storms it can suffer badly from weed.
This mark can offer a relatively sheltered option if the sea along the North Wales coast are to rough to fish.
Getting there
Dock Rd is on the western side of Connah’s Quay around 100m from a pedestrian crossing. The image shows the turn as you approach from the east having come through the town and heading towards Flint. Follow Dock Rd going under the bridge continue along the narrow road through the small industrial estate. This will take you to the small quay side on your left.

hough still just over 20km from the open sea this is the area close to where the canalised section ends and the estuary proper begins. It's a mark which offers good shelter from any bad weather which can be very productive at times. Flounder, silver eels, plaice, school bass, whiting and even the occasional codling can be expected. This mark can offer a relatively sheltered option when the beaches along the North Wales Coast are too rough to fish.
