Full Description
You can fish from the small Landerne Pier or from the quayside. Room on the pier is fairly limited and any more that 4 or 5 rods is a recipe for crossed lines and bad tempers. The tidal run in the straits is very strong on large tides and both holding bottom and combating the sometimes mammoth amounts of weed mean this is most certainly a mark to be fished on the smaller neap tides only.

Steve Aughton's children, Matt and Jess enjoying a spot of mini-species bashing. A nice comfortable mark.

In summer all manner of species can turn up from time to time. The main species you can expect are dogfish,
small pollack and small wrasse. Lug worm, sand eel and mackerel.
In winter dogfish, whiting, codling and huss become the main targets. The early run of codling around last 2 weeks of October can turn up some nice sized codling some to around 4lb. Large lug and squid or peeler crab work best for the larger fish. Once the run is over and when they‘ve passed through the average sized codling gets much smaller.
Whiting will be ever present throughout the October to March period and will take anything fishy mackerel, bluey and squid are all prime baits for them The same baits but in larger portions will account for the dogfish and huss.
