Splash Point is a popular Fishing Mark located on the east side of the
Nice comfortable fishing from the prom!
seaside town of Rhyl. Fishing is possible from both the Promenade and the beach. Both areas offer the same species of fish with the prom section being the comfortable option. Fishing from LW up to HW will keep you on the move as beach is very flat and when the flood starts the flooding tide will chase you up the beach. Be warned if you are going to fish over low water and back in to HW make sure you have an easy retreat from the beach as there is a long section of new sea defences without any access points.
Summer Species Bass, Smooth Hounds, Flounder, Plaice, Dogfish, Dabs, Rockling Winter species Whiting, Dabs, Dogfish and Coddling Description This venue is a very long sandy beach separated by groynes it's not a very deep-water mark and at high water you will be fishing in roughly 6-8 feet of water. In the summer months Bass, Flounder, Plaice, Dabs, Rockling, and Smooth Hounds can be expected. As autumn and winter approach it's mainly Whiting and Flounder with occasional codling. Late summer will often see large shoals of mackerel. During the summer months Splash Point becomes alive with fish the most targeted being Bass and Smooth Hounds. Bass at times are there in numbers fresh lug worm is one of the most productive and consistent baits. The sand covers very quickly on the flooding tide and while the mark can be fished over low water it's much easier and more comfortable to fish it 2hrs either side of high water from the prom. Bait, lug worm is the prime choice followed by rag worm and prawn. If targeting the smooth hounds crab or squid are your best options. During the autumn and winter months fish baits such as mackerel or bluey will keep you busy with whiting. Rig choices. Two or three flappers for flatfish and whiting with single hook pulley rigs with long shank hooks for bass and smooth hounds. Worm baits or crab with same rig option for the bass. Crab and squid for the smooth hounds.
You can fish anywhere along the prom but be warned fishing from the new rocky sea defences isn't advised!
