Description

Uwchmynydd Rock MarkLying at south west tip of the Lleyn Peninsula facing Bardsey Island Uwchmynydd offers excellent rock fishing for the adventurous. The majority of the marks involve a long and strenuous walk with testing climbs down to the rock platforms. Best left for those fit and experienced in rock fishing.

Best Bait

Sand eel, crab, mackerel squid and lug.

Summer Species

Wrasse, pollack, mackerel, bull huss, conger and dogfish. Also occasional smoothhound.

Winter Species

Whiting, codling, coalfish and conger.

Tackle & Tactics

Heavy tackle as the ground is very rough. Neap tides at low water are best for your sanity as ant-y other time the tides between the mainland and Bardsey Island are very strong. Fish a rotten bottom rig and be prepared for tackle losses.

Directions

Taking the B4413 into Aberdaron continue on up the hill past the beach heading north west. At the Chapel turn left along a narrow road which after a mile or so brings you to a National Trust car park.
The marks are a 20 minute walk down a valley from the car park.
