Description
Lying on the north west tip of the Lleyn, Porth Oer or Whistling Sands as it also known isa mainly sandy beach is flanked on 3 sides by cliffs providing shelter from all but north westerlies. The beach is popular with tourists in the summer plus the National Trust charge £2 a car to park on their land. Arrange your visits for late evening/night time in the summer or for spring and autumn.
Best Bait
Sand eel frozen or fresh (fresh can be collected at this venue), razor fish and crab. Mackerel and squid for whiting with crab and lug squid cocltails for codling.

Bass, pollack, wrasse and mackerel
Winter Species
Whiting, codling, coalfish with bass into late autumn.
Tackle & Tactics
Standard beach gear with leads 150g to 170g both plain and grip's. Two hook rigs are the normal chioce. A rotten bottom might be necessary if you fish into the odd patch of rough ground.
Directions
Porth Oer is sign posted off the B4413 (Tudweiliog to Aberdaron road). From the the junction of the B4413 to Port Oer is about 3 miles. The (National Trust) car park is above the beach. Park here and follow the path/track down to the beach.
