 The wooden pier extends from the seaward side of the harbour wall. The harbour is busy in summer and parking can be a problem. The pier itself ia a great favourite with anglers so much it's can best be described as 'combat fishing' when everyone is fighting for their own space. The piers reputation for producing big fish such as bull huss and even the occasional tope ensures a constant
procession of anglers turn up to give it a go.
If you like a bit of peace and quite avoid Trefor on bank holidays or summer weekends. It seems at these times to attract
more than its fair share of small boats, divers and family
outings.
Best Bait
Large fish baits, sandeel and crab for the larger species with worm baits and small fish baits for the smaller species.
Summer Species
Dogfish, bull huss, smoothound, occasional rays, plaice, pollack, wrasse, mackerel and black bream.
Winter Species
Dogfish, whiting, dab and occasional codling.
Tackle and Tactics
Standard beach gear with strong 3/0 - 5/0 hooks fishing fish or crab at range for the larger species with smaller hooks and baits closer in under your feet for flatfish. Float fishing close to the pier stanchions with sandeel and worm will produce small pollock and wrasse respectively.
Directions
Leave the A499 following the signs for Trefor. Coming into the village look for the signs directing you to the beach. If you come into the village from the Pwllheli direction you'll have to go through the village and as the turning for the beach/harbour is on the far side. Parking
can be a problem in the summer.
